In this post, she shares easy daily practices to bring flow to your life so you feel more balanced and have more energy and joy.
The thing about lasting prosperity on all levels (from wellness to money to love and also creativity) is that it happens in happiness far easier than in a panic, stress, oppression, or self-denial. All that worry, thinking, and pushing is the opposite of flow, and it happens when we get into that headspace of disconnection.
Disconnection = thinking, not rested, intensive, crazy-making, tail-chasing, worried, complaining, freaking out...
Feng shui is all about connection that brings you wealth.
And I don’t mean to oversimplify and tell you that you’ll instantly switch to a new way of life and hit the lottery because you’ve changed your space. I have done all of the above thinking, freaking out, and crazy-making, and it’s a part of the modern human condition. It's even celebrated sometimes (often), depending on where you live and the influences that surround you. It’s not just an instant thing with an amulet or a charm and then, poof, life is new.
But to simplify: Connection is where the flow happens. There’s more joy, there’s more meaning, there’s not a need to swallow your truth, there’s a sort of trust in the universe and even work, no matter how challenging, is more in flow.
It’s not just the changing of space in feng shui that makes the change happen: It’s a deep respect for your own energy, your life, your priorities, and what makes you come to life.
As that connection is made, life unfolds far more freely!
Connecting to your space and sense of flow shouldn’t be another confusing self-help feedback loop.
It’s actually liberating. Here's how to make it happen:
1. Break a pattern in space
Sit in a new chair. Tip your chair in a new direction. Take breaks at new times. If your morning routine is the same-same and not inspiring, how can you add a little more color and life to it? What about rearranging a room that feels off-kilter?
2. Do the opposite
It’s something I suggest a lot, and it’s very powerful. In the amazing children’s golf documentary The Short Game, one parent has a ritual for him and his daughter when they need to reset mentally: They do the exact opposite of everything from the day before. From the color of their socks to the way they walk the golf course, it’s all new, and the game immediately comes back to life. New circumstances force us to be more present. That’s amazing!
3. Tap into your depths
If you don’t know who you are deeply, how can you connect deeply to life? Journaling by the water, a fountain, after a shower, near a pool...all are great ways to go deeper into your truth. Free-write like crazy and watch your truths pour out.
4. Share more
Sharing is what brings us together. I give things to friends every week, as I have an abundance of stuff I don’t need or use that others do need. Sharing advice, time, a helpful hand...all amp up deep connection to space and life.
5. Surrender stress
This might be helpful to start thinking of stress as an opportunity to surrender life’s clutter rather than the amped up hyper-pulse of life that’s unhealthy.
6. Think of pleasure as a vitamin
Daily doses of pleasure are vital. If you don’t have real pleasures in your space and your day, find simple ones like naps, baths, beautiful food...
7. Love more
If there’s one thing I regret not doing sooner, it’s learning more ways to open up my heart in life. Being guarded may seem be practical, but it’s not helpful. This feng shui can get you started.
8. Stop beating down doors
If it’s not opening, try another and another. The act of “insisting” that life happen in a certain way can stop the magic from happening because the flow gets stuck. If your sofa or bed only fits one way in a room, that’s where it goes. Work with it rather than insisting it has to change, and new possibility will emerge.
9. Revamp your personal vibes
When I’m happy, the world is mine. Literally, every day is a breeze, even if it’s challenging and a lot needs to be done. I can tell you, the first sign of unhealthy alliances and environments in my decade of experience is that your personal statistics crash. Money falls away, there’s stress and arguments everywhere, health issues and other problems appear... You might feel attached to certain people, places and patterns, but if they’re not in sync with your happiness, it’s a rough road, and it can lead you away from flow pretty quickly.
And you can take it all to the next level and do a complete joy immersion on your own and start creating new patterns that lift you up, up, up, up!!!
